What is an E-Visa?
An e-visa is a special document that allows a foreign national to enter Russia for a limited time for tourism, business, visiting friends, or participating in events (scientific, cultural, sports, etc.).
Who Can Apply for an E-Visa
- Citizens of more than 60 countries are eligible (see the current list on the Russian MFA website).
- The visa is single-entry only.
- It can be used for tourism, business, private visits, or event participation.

Key Changes
On July 23, 2025, Federal Law No. 257-FZ was signed, significantly improving conditions for travelers:
- Visa validity is doubled — from 60 to 120 days, giving more flexibility to plan your trip
- Stay period is nearly doubled — up to 30 days instead of 16
Required Documents
- A valid passport (must be valid for at least 6 months after application).
- A digital color photo (like a passport photo).
- Completed application form on the official MFA e-visa website.
- Medical insurance covering the entire trip duration.
No invitation, hotel booking, or flight ticket is required.
How to Apply for an E-Visa
1. Register on the Website
Visit the official e-visa site, sign up, and verify your email address.
2. Fill Out the Application Form
Enter personal details, upload a photo and the scanned first page of your passport.
3. Pay the Consular Fee
The typical fee is about $52 for adults and $2 for children under 6.
4. Wait for Notification
You’ll receive an update by email. Once approved, you’ll get an e-visa with a QR code.
5. Print the Visa
You’ll need to show the e-visa to border officers. It’s recommended to print it out, but you can also show it on your phone.
6. Entry and Stay
You can enter through any checkpoint listed on the official site. Do not overstay the allowed period.
