What Is Gosuslugi and Why Does It Matter for Foreigners?

Gosuslugi is Russia’s official government services portal. In 2025, it became directly relevant to foreign citizens through the RuID system — a digital identity registration that many visitors and migrants must complete before or upon entering Russia.

If you are planning to travel to Russia, work, study, or stay with family, understanding Gosuslugi is no longer optional. Several migration processes now require digital registration through the Gosuslugi ecosystem.

No. Gosuslugi / RuID registration is a digital identity step. Migration registration is a separate legal procedure you must complete after arrival at your place of stay.

Can I use Gosuslugi if I don’t speak Russian?

The RuID mobile app supports multiple languages. The main Gosuslugi website is primarily in Russian, but browser translation tools work well with it.

What if I already have a Gosuslugi account from a previous visit?
